Pipe Center team: putting it all together for offsite solutions.

Pipe Center predicts big future for offsite solutions

Published:  10 December, 2009

WORCESTER: Pipe Center's modular engineering business reported rapid growth in demand as the benefits of offsite assembly of multi-service pipework modules for buildings become more readily accepted.

Pipe Center, part of the Wolseley Group, became the UK's first construction materials distributor to offer an offsite engineering service with the launch of its modular engineering business earlier this year.

The facility, based at a dedicated 30 000sq ft factory in Worcester, designs and manufactures pre-fabricated, multi-service pipe work modules which include all of the building and electrical services required for the most complex buildings.

These include air conditioning, refrigeration, water, fire, ventilation, electrical supply and security.

Contracts to-date include complete modular solutions for a major regional healthcare facility, a shopping centre and an office development.

Modular engineering is not only winning converts among major contractors and clients. Last month, it won a top construction industry award from Offsite Construction magazine, as 'Best New Product or System'. It was also highly commended in the Cooling Industry Awards for its contribution to environmental sustainability.

Scott Craig, Pipe Center's sales and marketing director, said: "It is an exciting new venture which reflects our commitment to invest in specialist services for our customers, and complements our pipe fabrication facility based in West Horndon.

"Modular engineering is in the unique position of being able to offer customers design, manufacture and distribution of pre-fabricated modules direct to site – all backed by Wolseley's industry-leading supply chain."
