LONDON: Bovis Homes is back in profit after a calamitous 2008.
The company reported a pre-tax profit of £4.8m last year after losing £78.7m in 2008.
In its annual report, Bovis forecast that house prices are likely to be stable this year.
Bovis follows Taylor Wimpey in returning to the black and said that it is now "well placed to use its balance sheet strength to acquire new land for homes to support future growth".
NEWCASTLE-UPON-TYNE: In marked contrast to merchants, builders continue to report better performance. The latest is house builder Bellway that returned to profit in the half-year.
LONGFIELD: Bovis Homes starts building on 33 new sites this year the company said as it released healthy financial results this morning. Turnover was £298.6m up from £281.5m and pre-tax profit at £18.5m up from £7.5m.

LONDON: House builder Bovis Homes said it will resume paying dividends at the end of the financial year as it posted solid trading in the first-half, leaving it on track to meet 2010 targets.

The company said, in a statement this morning ahead of its annual general meeting today that sales for the year to April 30 rose 11% year-on-year to 1,208, of which 643 sales were brought forward from 2009 and 565 sales were achieved in the first 17 weeks of the year.
