LEEDS: Everbuild Building Products has teamed up with The Wensleydale Creamery in Hawes to take a taste of real Yorkshire Wensleydale into Europe.

The company offered Real Yorkshire Wensleydale Cheese to visitors at the recent International Hardware Fair in Cologne, Germany.

As a company that has extended its global presence through more than 50% growth in its export sales, worth £5 million in the last year, Everbuild is always keen to promote its Yorkshire heritage and the proud history for innovative manufacturing that continues to exist in the region.

The International Hardware Fair is one of the key dates in the construction and DIY equipment sector’s calendar, attracting 56 000 visitors from 124 countries.

More than 2500 companies from 52 countries exhibited their products and services, including Everbuild, which unveiled some new additions to its 200-strong product range.

With a turnover of £50 million, Leeds-based Everbuild has rapidly become a leading supplier to building merchants and construction industry distributors in the UK and around the world.

Helen Kirby, marketing manager of Everbuild Building Products, said: “We wanted to inject a taste of Yorkshire into our presence in Cologne and you can’t get much better than Real Yorkshire Wensleydale Cheese.

“We enjoyed an incredibly successful show and our new and existing products were very well received by visitors. The cheese also went down a storm and became a real talking point on our stand.”

She added: “Being a Yorkshire company plays a big part in Everbuild’s success. It’s about our location, our people and our attitude to business and manufacturing that has made our products popular around the world.”

David Hartley, managing director of the Wensleydale Creamery in Hawes, said: “Yorkshire has a proud manufacturing heritage, be it cheese or building products, which should be championed around the world.

“We are currently attempting to secure a (PDO) Protected Designation of Origin status to ensure that only our Real Yorkshire Wensleydale should bear the Wensleydale name. I am sure once the visitors to the Hardware Fair in Cologne have a taste they will agree.”
