Buildbase plants 10 000 trees for customers

Published:  20 July, 2010

UK/SWEDEN: As a direct result of Buildbase customers joining SCA's paperless invoicing scheme, around 10 750 trees – enough to cover almost six football pitches – are currently being planted by SCA Timber in the Buildbase Lifecycle Forest area on SCA land at Ljusåsen in central Sweden.

"This is a fantastic start," said Buildbase managing director Stephen Thompstone. "We'd like to thank all customers who've so far helped the environment through this tree-planting and paper-saving initiative.

Already 150 000 invoices have been sent electronically, reducing waste in the construction supply chain. Our likely annualised saving on this basis should be around 300 000 documents.

"There are many more Buildbase customers out there who could still join our paperless billing scheme, and for each one signing up, a further 10 000 trees will be planted in the forest area that SCA has dedicated to us."
