New homes to have fire sprinklers
Published:  16 February, 2011

CARDIFF: All new homes in Wales will have automatic fire sprinkler systems if the Welsh assembly passes a new measure.

The measure would apply to all new-build houses in Wales as well as new care homes and university halls of residence.

There are few objections to the proposal although the National House Building Council questioned, during the consultation process, the cost effectiveness of such measures and whether existing water pressure would enable sprinklers to work in many homes.
