Burrells builds sand castles for charity

Published:  06 July, 2009

NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE: James Burrell Builders’ Merchants helped more than 2000 children from 46 primary schools take part in the 15th annual Children North East's Sandcastle Challenge on Saturday 4 July.

The event took place in good weather on Sandhaven Beach, South Shields, where the children were tasked with making sand artwork based on the theme 'Then and Now.

Impressive ‘sandcastles’ included an old-fashioned car next to a modern-day sports car.

The event is organised each year by the charity, Children North East, and supported by James Burrell, GB Building Solutions, Royal Institute of British Architects North East, and Ian Larnach Associates.
