Housing body re-tenders £11m work

DUMFRIES: Dumfries & Galloway Housing Partnership is seeking a contractor to finish £11m worth of work after the original builder, R&D Construction, entered administration.

It is the second time the housing maintenance contract has had to be rebid: it was with Connaught which failed earlier in they year.

Accountants Ernst & Young were called in at Dumfries based R&D last month and its work with the partnership stopped. The housing body closed sites and has advertised for a replacement contractor to finish the work.

A contract notice in the OJEU states: "The contract will comprise 57 units that have not yet been commenced, 140 units that are in various stages of completion and the defects liability period on 164 completed units.

"In addition, the contractor will be required to develop a further 151 units for the for-sale market."
