Ken Dodd and Andy Hoarty: tickled to be open.
Ken Dodd opens JDP’s latest branch

CARLISLE: JDP, one of the UK's leading distributors of above and below ground civil engineering and drainage systems, has extended its UK branch network by opening a new facility on Rossmore Industrial Estate in Ellesmere Port.
And who better to carry out the official opening ceremony than revered and local hero, comedian Ken Dodd OBE, of Knotty Ash.
The move puts JDP in a position to better service customers on the Wirral, Merseyside and across North Wales.
Mr Dodd said: "At a time of continuing economic uncertainty, it is great news to see a company such as JDP continuing to expand, which can only help benefit the region as a whole. I'm sure the new branch will be a huge success and I welcome them into Ellesmere Port's business community."
Covering a one-acre site and involving investment to the tune of £250 000, the branch has created four new jobs.
Targeting ground workers, civil engineering contractors, utility providers, builders and plumbers, the branch will stock an extensive range of products including solutions for adoptable sewers, house drainage, rainwater, soil, waste, channel and land drainage, gullies and covers, storm water management, ducting and fuel tanks.
The opening was attended by a number of key suppliers, such as Wavin, Polypipe, Titan, Naylor Drainage and Charcon, together with representatives from JDP's management team.
The official opening was followed by a charity raffle that raised £6000 for the Hospice of the Good Shepherd, also of Ellesmere Port.
Said JDP regional manager Andy Hoarty: "Ellesmere Port is the ideal location as it offers great communication links throughout the North West and North Wales, which has previously been served by our Bolton and Heywood sites."
