B&Q faces fine after death of customer

Published:  15 July, 2011

DUBLIN: B&Q Ireland is facing a substantial fine after the death of a customer two years ago.

Michael O'Rourke was shopping in the garden centre at Tallaght in Dublin in March 2009, when he was struck by a bale of fencing that fell from the rack above him.

The DIY chain is to be sentenced later this month after pleading guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to a breach of health and safety legislation.
