EASTLEIGH: Nine aspiring executives are to get an insight into big business after being chosen to serve on a "youth board" at DIY firm B&Q reports the Press Association.

The retailer's three-month selection process culminated in a boot camp featuring hands-on challenges and a short interview.

The new board will hold quarterly meetings and be tasked with looking at solutions to specific challenges facing the company, ending up with a presentation to the company's entire board next July.

B&Q executives and members of the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, which is working with the retailer on sustainability and in equipping the next generation of workers, will mentor the group.

The board members are Mark Buckley, 17, from Ringwood, Josh Watson, 17, from Durham, Yahya Pandor, 16, from Gloucester, Jaideep Wasu, 17, from Bromley, Carys Jones, 18, from Cardiff, Ben Pearson, 17, from Bath, Jamie Taylor, 18, from Oldham, Daniel Bettie, 17, from Aberdare and Harris Aslam, 16, from Fife.
