ORPINGTON: Walkers Builders' Merchants has saved around £35 000 by switching to using a FLSC Forklift Scale System from Avery Weigh-Tronix. The savings is from more exact measure that reduces overweighing the company says.
Walkers sells bulk bags of aggregates weighing a tonne using a JCB telehandler with Avery FLSC forklift scales and a Bagezee attachment.
Andy Coster, office manager at Walkers says, "Before using the FLSC Forklift Scale System from Avery Weigh-Tronix our operators were having to estimate the weights of aggregates going into the bulk bags that we sell. When we delved deeper into this process we found that on average, the operators were overfilling the bags.
"There is now no need to worry about the loss of profit from over-filling, and no need to worry about fines from trading standards for under-filling.
"We have calculated that by implementing the FLSC Forklift Scale System from Avery Weigh-Tronix we have saved in the region of £35 000 by eliminating overfill."
