Everbuild does its bit for charity

LEEDS: Despite the dismal Great British summer the staff at Everbuild Building Products didn’t let the rain dampen their spirits as they set off last weekend for an agenda packed full of events in honour of their chosen charity for 2012 - The Haven.
The Haven does exactly as its name suggests, offering completely free therapies to help people deal with the physical and emotional side effects of breast cancer in a safe and calm environment at their Leeds centre. Everbuild have seen first-hand the admirable work that all at the Haven do and so it seemed a natural choice of charity for 2012’s company fundraising events.
The weekend kicked off with 32 Everbuild staff members (plus lots more in support!) heading to Pugneys Country Park in Wakefield to partake in The Rotary Dragon Boat Challenge. As well as competing against other companies, the Everbuild troupe were split into two aptly named teams: Mammoth and Gator meaning that at some point in the competition they had to race against each other! Team Gator won the race and managed an impressive 5th place overall and although Team Mammoth lost the Everbuild race they did pick up a trophy for the fastest girls team!
On Sunday, while most were still nursing their sore arms from the day before, the braver members of staff put on their running shoes to complete the Jane Tomlinson Leeds 10K Run. Again in aid of the Haven, seven members of Everbuild’s production team completed the race, times varied from a speedy 55 minutes to a less than shabby 1hour and 15 minutes and all had a very enjoyable day!
In total Everbuild have raised over Ł3,000 for The Haven, well over their target amount! Congratulations to all of the staff at Everbuild who took part to make this a memorable weekend and to raise money for an exceptional cause.
