Keyline Thunderball Rally 2012

Published:  01 August, 2012

NORTHAMPTON: This year’s Keyline Thunderball rally had a James Bond theme, and each car entered had to be a model used in a 007 movie.

A team of four, gold-clad women from Travis Perkins, dubbed the ‘Money Pennies’ entered supported by ACO which provided the gold London cab – a model seen in the 1983 Bond film Octopussy.

The 24-car rally left Keyline’s Northfleet base in June representing Keyline, other parts of the Travis Perkins group, and their customers and suppliers. The teams had just three days to cover a 1500-mile route across France to the finishing line at Bernese Oberland Alps in Switzerland – without the aid of a sat nav, and travelling on minot routes.

Richard Hill, managing director at ACO Technologies, praised the work of Prostate Cancer UK, and the commitment of all involved in the Keyline rally: “We are glad to support the charity’s work in combating this commonplace but often unrecognized form of cancer; and we are so proud of the Money Pennies for the dedication fundraising efforts that took them to Switzerland and back by taxi”.
