Merchant's shop destroyed by fire

BURFORD: Some 40 firefighters battled a blaze at a builders' merchant and DIY shop in Milton-under-Wychwood on Monday.

Six fire engines, ambulances and police attended the fire at Alfred Grove and Sons in Shipton Road shortly after 5am.

Alfred Grove and Sons specialises in renovation and refurbishment of period properties in the Cotswolds.

A company spokesman said: "We've no idea how it started. Everyone is ok, but the shop has been completely destroyed."
