BIRMINGHAM: Curzon, the specialist supplier of genuine heating, domestic and cooker spares, has been shortlisted for the ‘Safety Initiative of the Year Award' at the Corgi Awards 2009.
Curzon has been shortlisted for the Award, which recognises those who have implemented an initiative that has had a significant impact upon safety throughout 2008/09, following its work with the Carbon Monoxide Consumer Awareness Alliance (COCAA).
In April, Curzon became the first merchant to join COCAA in a bid to ensure that the dangers of carbon monoxide are taken seriously throughout the trade. The partnership has been a huge success and Curzon's branch network continues to make its customers aware of the dangers associated with carbon monoxide. Curzon, in partnership with Honeywell, has given each of their branch staff a SF450 audible carbon monoxide alarm to EN50291 standard to ensure their families are safe at home.
As Debbie-Sue Price, marketing manager at Curzon, explains: "Since we became the first merchant to join COCAA, the Curzon team has shown a real commitment to communicating the dangers of carbon monoxide. Our own campaign, which has been supported throughout our entire UK branch network, has been well received and we will continue to work with COCAA to ensure that we continue to communicate the vital message – that carbon monoxide poisoning is the silent killer and regular servicing of appliances and fitting an audible CO alarm can save lives.
"We are proud of our work to date and to be recognised as industry leaders in safety. I'm also pleased to have secured a deal with Honeywell, which has played a huge role in engaging our staff, and believe that the scale and successes of the campaign will continue to grow."
