Worth the wait: Lafarge Cement's site.
Lafarge launches 'one-stop' site

LEICESTER: The roll-out of Lafarge Cement’s website neatly coincides with the company's redesigned packed cement range. Both were launched in response to customer demand for clearer communication and guidance on practical building solutions. The site, says the company, "provides more information to help customers to get the best out of Lafarge’s products".
The major change to the Lafarge site sees all product divisions brought together in one place as more customers seek a ‘one-stop shop’ for their building solutions.
The UK website is now home to all Lafarge activities and will, over the coming months, incorporate all of the Group’s divisions: cement, aggregates and concrete, asphalt and contracting and plasterboard.
The re-launch of the site also allows additional features such as animations, podcasts and Really Simple Syndication (RSS) to be included. These interactive technologies give users instant guidance from the company's experts on which products to select for a particular job as well as advice on their applications.
To ensure a smooth changeover, customers attempting to access the old website at will be automatically routed to the new site, which has also been designed to be found easily on internet search engines such as Google.
The design for the new UK website has been based on the Lafarge Group’s main website, which draws 130 000 monthly visitors and has won several awards for its functionality and accessibility.
Says Chris Ettery, the company's communications manager: "The need to relay this information in a clear and concise way has driven the development of the new website and we hope it will help our customers to get the best out of the alternatives available to them.”
