STOCKHOLM: Swedish forestry company Svenska Cellulosa Aktiebolaget (SCA), has upgraded its Bollstabruk sawmill to improve deliveries to UK merchants.

The £5.8m investment comprises a plant for impregnation of wood products, two chamber kilns, and an upgrade of the grading mill with increased capacity and camera sorting, the company said.

Katarina Levin, sawmill manager at Bollstabruk said: "These are important investments that among other things will improve our capacity to manage increasing deliveries to the builders' merchant sector in Scandinavia and United Kingdom."

The two chamber kilns are operating while the investments in the impregnation plant and the grading mill will be carried out this autumn and winter.

SCA's sawmill in Bollstabruk employs 140 staff and contractors and has a production capacity of 450 000 cubic metres of solid wood products of Nordic pine.
