City Plumbing Supplies has launched an internal Renewables Training Programme to provide colleagues from City Plumbing Supplies, and across the Travis Perkins Group, with greater knowledge of the breadth of renewable technologies now available in the UK.

The course has been developed by Sustainable Building Solutions within the Travis Perkins Group.

Since the introduction of the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) in the spring, accredited installations have continued to increase every month, to just under 10,000 by the end of August. As a result, the new training course from SBS has been designed to help colleagues gain a greater understanding of renewable solutions so they are better equipped to help guide customers through the available options.

The Renewables Training Programme combines a mix of online learning modules with practical experience. Each module is designed to give staff the confidence to have detailed conversations with customers about renewable technologies. The theoretical side of the course is balanced with a full day of practical activity, whereby colleagues spend time gaining first-hand experience of working with around seven different types of renewable technologies – from understanding what the products look like to how they work.

Paul Joyner, managing director of Sustainable Building Solutions, said: “With almost 10,000 installations accredited under the RHI, it is obvious that the scheme has and will continue to inspire many installers. This is why the Renewables Training Programme is so important when helping us to support customers in what can seem like a daunting market.”

“For City Plumbing Supplies’ colleagues and customers this signifies a renewed investment in our sustainable offer. The practical aspect of the course in particular has been introduced to help provide people with a really in depth understanding of the products now available, as it is only when you gain hands-on experience of renewable technologies that you truly understand how they work and what applications they are suitable for. Whatever the RHI installation, including sustainable heating and plumbing solutions, installers can be confident we’ll have the answers.”

The Renewables Training Programme launches on 27 October 2014 and will be undertaken by colleagues of leading names from the Travis Perkins Group, including, City Plumbing Supplies, Plumbing Trade Supplies, and Travis Perkins backed by the expertise of Sustainable Building Solutions.
