British Gypsum joined hundreds of runners on 28 September in the Windsor Half Marathon to raise money for CRASH, the construction and property industry’s homeless charity.
CRASH aims to address the issue of homelessness by providing expert knowledge, donating spare materials and awarding cash grants that can improve the buildings used by people in need.
Mike Chaldecott, managing director at British Gypsum, was one of 5,000 competitors who took part in the marathon, completing a 13.1-mile route around the grounds of Windsor Great Park in a time of 1:36:08.
Mr Chaldecott, who is also the lead patron for CRASH, said: “Homelessness remains a huge challenge for the UK, so it’s vital that those who are able to improve conditions for these people do everything they can. Utilising the industry’s skills and materials at hand is a great way of doing just that.”
CRASH fundraising and events manager Amy Hart said: “It was a really wonderful day, made even better by the fact that no less than nine of our patron companies had teams taking part in the event. We are so grateful to everyone who took part, especially considering how hot the afternoon was.”
