The Builders Merchants Federation (BMF) has been shortlisted in a third category of the Trade Association Forum (TAF) ‘Best Practice’ award.

The Federation has been announced as a finalist for the NCFE ‘Skills Development’ award.

The awards, which recognize best practice within over 300 trade associations, are formally supported by the Department of Business, Innovation and Skills. This year the awards are also endorsed by national awarding organisation, NCFE, sponsor of the ‘Skills Development’ award.

BMF managing director, John Newcomb, said: “This is a fantastic achievement. Earlier this month we were extremely pleased to hear that we had reached two category finals at our first attempt, but it is truly outstanding to be shortlisted for three such prestigious awards.

“Skills development is very special to the BMF. Our goal is to be the leading body in helping to attract to and develop talented people in the merchant industry. This dovetails with another strategic aim, to professionalise the industry.

“I am delighted that our work in this area is being recognised on a national stage.”

The winners will be announced in London on 9 July, 2015.
