Ridgeons, a leading independent timber and builders' merchant in the East of England, recently recognised the long service achievements of 64 employees at its annual Long Service Awards reception.

Accumulating an impressive 850 years' combined service between them, employees from 19 of the Group's 26 branches came together and joined Ridgeons' directors and family members for a dedicated celebratory lunch at the Green Light Centre in Pampisford, Cambridge.

Eleven employees were recognised for 20 years of service, 20 employees for 15 years and 33 employees for 10 years. Ridgeons' non-executive director, Amanda Smith, presented individuals with a certificate in acknowledgment of their continued commitment to the business. The frames for the certificates were handcrafted by team leader, Eddie Hart, at the Group's timber processing plant in Herringswell.

Director Gordon Ridgeon, who created and hosted the event, said: "Now in its 18th year, the Ridgeons' Long Service Awards luncheon is a very uplifting occasion, as it is the perfect opportunity for the family and directors to come together and celebrate the length of their service, while thanking them for their continued commitment to our business.

"Relationships are at the very heart of our business - relationships with customers, our communities and with one another. It's each person's contribution and dedication to go the extra mile that is key to building these relationships and maintaining our reputation of providing excellent customer service. And we believe this is what sets us apart from our competitors."

Ridgeons was recently awarded Gold standard for Investors in People (IIP), for its dedication to exceptional people management, staff training schemes and outstanding employee retention.
