A collective total of 170 years worth of employment has been amassed by six members of staff at Covers Timber and Builders Merchants.

Dispatch manager Garry Hovey recently celebrated 35 years at the company, while Richard Hunt, mill operator, and Gary Scott, on counter sales, have both reached their 30-year anniversaries at the firm. Trevor Sanctuary, a driver for the firm has now completed 25 years of employment alongside Peter Devonport in IT and Graham Sque in maintenance.

Each member of staff received a gift in recognition of their time at the company, with items ranging from a camera to DIY materials.

The family-owned firm, established 169 years ago, says it prides itself on strong team and customer service ethics.

Rupert Green, chairman of Covers Timber and Building Merchants, said: “Covers’ staff are our main asset; not only do we offer attractive packages and invest heavily in training and development, but we also ensure that team members regularly have direct contact with the directors to ensure that they feel valued and content.”
