Ancon has once again been honoured at a Royal Reception following the company’s second Queen’s Award for Enterprise.

The Reception was hosted by Her Majesty The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh on Tuesday 14 July, 2015. Other members of the Royal Family in attendance included The Duke of York, Princess Eugenie of York and The Princess Royal.

Ancon’s managing director Stuart Maxwell and marketing manager Annabelle Wilson, who attended at the personal invitation of Her Majesty, were joined by representatives from other award-winning companies for the reception held in the magnificent state rooms of Buckingham Palace.

The Award recognises the company’s achievement in growing sales across new and existing export markets. It follows success in 2012, when the company was honoured with a Queen’s Award in Innovation for the development and commercialisation of a Lockable Dowel, a system that has benefited post-tensioned concrete construction.

Ancon representatives were presented to Her Majesty The Queen and had the opportunity to discuss at length the company’s on-going business success with members of the Royal household.

Mr Maxwell said: “It was a great personal honour to be welcomed by The Queen, and to be introduced to so many members of the Royal Family. When attending a reception at Buckingham Palace you follow in the footsteps of many historical figures and world leaders, taking in the splendour of some of the Palace’s most famous rooms, including the Throne Room and the Picture Gallery, used on many grand state occasions.

“The Queen’s Award Reception is a unique event, and one that most in the business community will never have the opportunity to attend. For Ancon to attend a second Reception in just three years is a huge achievement for everyone at the company. It says a great deal about the company’s strategy and our increasing stature in international markets.”

In a break from tradition, the 2015 Award will be officially presented to the Sheffield-based company by the Lord Lieutenant of Clwyd, at a special ceremony later this year at Ancon’s manufacturing facilities in Deeside, North Wales.

The engraved crystal bowl and ceremonial scroll will then be displayed in Ancon’s Sheffield Head Office with the 2012 Queen’s Award.
