The charity Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice Care in Farnham is to benefit from a donation of £1,000 following a fundraising quiz night organised by civil engineering and groundwork material specialist Rudridge on 22 October.

Gathering at Silvermere Golf & Leisure in Cobham, Surrey, the competitors, who were made up of local businesses from across the South East, were put through their paces when their knowledge of subjects including history, sport and science was put to the test as they battled for the main prize of donating the evening’s fundraising total to a charity of their choice.

The winners were announced as The Pretenders from Farnham who were victorious with 66 points out of a total possible of 100. The team of four, who were made up of Steve Moseley, Paul Burton, Mark Bradshaw and Jason Green from Moseley Green Services in Borden, chose to donate the proceeds raised at the evening to Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice Care – a charity which is close to their hearts.

Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice Care is the only hospice care service for adult patients, and their families, across the whole of the West Surrey and North East Hampshire area. For over 35 years the charity has provided support to the local community and need to raise over £15,000 a day to continue operating.

Commenting on the fundraising quiz, Alan Betteridge, director at Rudridge, said: “Congratulations to The Pretenders. We are delighted they have chosen Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice Care as their charity of choice. It’s a remarkably worthy cause and I am sure the donation will go a long way to helping them continue the amazing work they do on behalf of the community. We would also like to thank all the other teams that took part and who helped contribute to making the evening such a success.”
