One of Pipe Center and Climate Center's longest-standing branch managers has assumed a new part-time coaching role for his peers across the UK following his recent retirement.

Eamonn Phelan joined Pipe Center and Climate Center's now top-performing branch in Slough 35 years ago, where he quickly worked his way up the ranks. In order to retain his years of knowledge and expertise, Mr Phelan was asked to launch a new training programme for other branch managers within the businesses.

His new role will see him work alongside colleagues in branches and field sales, as well as supporting members of the Pipe Center and Climate Center leadership team.

Mr Phelan said: "Looking after my customers always gave me a big buzz and the main thing I've learned over the years is that customers, as well as our colleagues, are the two most important things in our business. In my new role I try to give time that may not always be available from line managers to understand and help employees deal with issues such as customer sales, stock, debts and our processes.

"I also try and help them think differently to gain better success as I don't feel they could work any harder. I'm enjoying supporting people across the company and ultimately helping Pipe Center and Climate Center provide customers with the best service possible."

Andy Wighton, managing director at Pipe Center and Climate Center, said: "We have a very collaborative culture at Pipe Center and Climate Center and it's pleasing to know that Eamonn is still keen to return following his retirement. He is one of the most dedicated managers I have had the pleasure to work with and it's clear that he has driven the Slough branch - a multi-million pound business in its own right - from strength to strength. He trained an extremely customer-focused team at Slough and is well-placed to share his knowledge with other branches in the country."
