City Plumbing Supplies (CPS) has smashed its £1m fundraising target for the Teenage Cancer Trust.

The charity partnership will now continue into 2016 for a fifth year, following a pledge from CPS to raise even more funds towards supporting young people with cancer across the UK.

The CPS team, with support from customers and suppliers, has pulled out all the stops over the last year to reach this incredible milestone. Over 130 events have taken place nationwide, from sponsored skydives and extreme cycling challenges, to marathons and charity balls.

The £1m raised could provide 20,000 hours of vital nursing care within a Teenage Cancer Trust unit; fund 15,000 hours of one-to-one specialist support from a Youth Support Coordinator; educate 12,000 students on the signs of cancer; fund the activity budget for 65 Youth Support Coordinators for one year; and enable 32 young people to attend a music therapy workshop every day for a week at the charity's annual concerts at The Royal Albert Hall.

Managing director of City Plumbing Supplies, John Frost, said: "I'm incredibly proud that City Plumbing Supplies has not only met but exceeded the £1m mark for Teenage Cancer Trust, and all within just four years. The money raised has and will continue to support the vital work the charity does, and I'm confident that we can once again rise to the challenge and raise even more funds for this fantastic charity in 2016."

Siobhan Dunn, chief executive of Teenage Cancer Trust, said: "We're completely humbled by this outstanding achievement – to reach such a monumental milestone is a real testament to the ongoing passion and commitment of the City Plumbing Supplies team. Currently, for every young person we can help, there's another we can't. We have a big task ahead of us to ensure no young person, or their family, faces cancer alone. However, with the unwavering support of City Plumbing Supplies, we know we will be one step closer to achieving our goal."
