Thorncliffe Building Supplies has been named in the London Stock Exchange’s list of 1,000 Companies To Inspire Britain.

With retail sites in Dyserth, Mold and Abergele, Thorncliffe has been recognised as one of the fastest growing small and medium sized businesses in the UK.

1,000 Companies To Inspire Britain is an annual celebration of small and medium-sized enterprises, which analyses emerging opportunities and challenges that will shape the future of the UK economy. In this year’s report, the rigorous selection criteria required companies to have demonstrated not only growing revenue over the past four years but also to have outperformed their sector peers.

Recent growth at Thorncliffe Building Supplies is attributed to the company’s expansion into concrete manufacturing, the instalment of state-of-the-art machinery at Bodelwyddan, and significant investment into efficient waste processing systems at the company’s two waste transfer stations.

The company has also invested in staff development and training, most notably with the establishment of an apprenticeship programme run in conjunction with the Cambrian Training Company. This programme has been very successful and, since it was launched, has seen the recruitment of 30 apprentices.

Commenting on the company’s inclusion within this list, managing director Tim Harper, said: “Thorncliffe Building Supplies has grown significantly over the last five years and we believe our success is directly related to the outstanding levels of customer service that we consistently offer. Everyone within the company is friendly and ready to serve. This approach, combined with our ability to source high-quality products and provide a reliable delivery service, has enabled us to expand throughout the region. We are delighted to have been officially recognised as a growing and dynamic company by such a prestigious body as the London Stock Exchange.”
