SCA Timber, manufacturer of wood-based products, with an annual production of 2.1 million cubic metres, has proven its sustainability credentials by being included in the world’s most credible and well-known indices.

It has been honoured in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index, the Carbon Disclosure Project Leadership Index and FTSE4GOOD – with each of these recognising that sustainability is at the heart of everything the company does.

This month SCA published its Sustainability Report, which sets out the company’s next aspirations, while also highlighting many of its sustainability achievements in 2015. Such successes are in line with SCA’s core company values of respect, responsibility and excellence, and reflect its dedication to employing and promoting ethical corporate best practice.

SCA Timber Supply’s managing director John Griffiths said: “At SCA, we are very proud of our sustainability accomplishments and we will continue to strive to make even further improvements. While our targets are ambitious, we are committed to achieving them on time or even earlier – as we have done in the past.”

As part of its commitment to the environment, SCA’s products are manufactured from raw materials grown in responsibly managed forests with respect for the ecological system and biological diversity. By 2020, SCA aspires to reduce carbon emissions from fossil fuels and purchased electricity and heating by 20%, as well as tripling its production of biofuels from its forests.
