LONDON: Regeneration specialists are poised to bid for a 10-year £200m Decent Homes and planned improvement works project for houses in the capital.

Apollo, Breyer Group, Mullaley, United House and Mitie and Mears are each seeking a slice of the work to be carried out on more than 6000 homes in the London borough of Merton.

Connaught, Lovell, Interserve and Wates, are also in the process of bidding to social housing group, Circle Anglia.

Circle Anglia is to take control of 6378 tenanted homes and 2550 leasehold homes through the newly-created Housing Association Merton Priory Homes in March 2010.

The most substantial lot will be worth over £70m and is in the Mitcham/Pollards Hill area, covering 2137 dwellings.

A further 2257 units in the Phipps Bridge, St Helier, Revensbury area is claimed to be worth £68m.

Around 1900 units in the Wimbledon, lower Morden, Raynes Park area will be worth £60m over the 10-year period.

Work to be carried out across the three areas includes kitchen replacements, bathroom replacements and roofing works, as well as window, door, fence and gate replacements.

Contractors will also be required to carry out plumbing and electrical upgrades, energy-efficiency work, asbestos management, security work, the renewal of communal heating systems and TV aerial replacements.
