Paving products from Bradstone have featured in a Gold award-winning show garden at this year’s prestigious RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show (5th – 10th July 2016).

The garden, called A Dog’s Life, was created by award-winning garden designer, Paul Hervey-Brookes, on behalf of the UK’s largest dog welfare charity, The Dog’s Trust.

Designed to give dog owners with small gardens thoughtful design inspiration, A Dog’s Life included a number of canine-friendly features, such as sniffer tracks through herbaceous borders, a woodland area with a raised agility ramp and leaf litter amongst planting for digging and scratching.

Garden designer, Paul Hervey-Brookes, comments: “I've grown up with dogs so it was a real treat for me to be able to design a garden on behalf of The Dog’s Trust. I wanted to show how you can easily share your outdoor space with dogs, without them digging up the lawn or your precious borders.

“My own experience of living with canines, plus extensive research, allowed me to come up with a design that reflected how dogs like to use outdoor space, with areas for play, exercise, shelter and relaxation. I also wanted to ensure they could enjoy a full sensory experience that was safe, with canine-friendly plants, bark they could chew and fresh water to drink. The overall effect was a design that could be realistically replicated in any garden, small or large.”

Bradstone products were used to compliment the garden’s design, including Smooth Natural Sandstone paving and edging. In addition, the garden featured bespoke granite seating and steps in a circular pavilion, designed specifically for the show garden, by Bradstone, to meet Paul’s specification. Aggregates from Bradstone were also used in the design.

Toby Stuart-Jervis, Commercial Director for Bradstone, comments: “We’re very proud to have been involved in Paul’s garden for The Dog’s Trust. Paul has created a garden design that is truly accessible and sympathetic to both homeowners and their canine friends, while raising awareness of the important work carried out by The Dog’s Trust.

“The Bradstone products used in the design highlighted the versatility of our product range – and our capabilities. A Dog’s Life showcased our Smooth Natural Sandstone range at its very best and illustrated how natural granite can be cut and shaped into a bespoke design, as seen in the garden’s pavilion feature. We hope it has inspired homeowners to look at their outdoor space, and the potential it offers, in a more inventive way.”

Smooth Natural Sandstone from Bradstone offers superb colour and veining variations for a distinctive paving solution. It is available in eight attractive colours with long aspect options available for a contemporary feel.
