The Gosport depot of Covers Timber & Builders Merchant was delighted to donate materials to Motiv8 enabling the community support group to create a decking area in their garden.

Motiv8 works with vulnerable young people and their families to improve options and provide opportunities to help them leave a lasting impact on the local neighbourhood. Since moving into its building at Toronto Place in 2012, the Gosport based community organisation has raised enough to add a new kitchen, office extension and media suite.

The garden has been developed, and is fully maintained, by the young people who are supported by Motiv8. They plant seeds and grow vegetables, which are then used to make vegetable soup in the kitchen. The new area created with the materials donated by Covers gives a place for the young people and support workers to sit, chat and plan their one to one time.

Kirsty Robertson, Gosport and Fareham Services Manager at Motiv8, said: “Without donations from organisations such as Covers, the building and garden would not be used by the community any way near what it is today. We support a huge amount of young people and their families across Gosport and Fareham and we can finally say we have a garden that is nearly fit for purpose. The decking area is already making a big difference to the way the garden can be used. We are very grateful to Covers for supporting us’’

Chris Collard, Depot Manager at Covers of Gosport, said: “Motiv8 does such fantastic work in our local area. We were delighted to be able to help them with a donation of materials and it’s great to hear that the decking area has been a success.”
