Operations Manager – Builders Merchants

Our client are a reputable supplier of building materials to the construction industry.

Due to the continued success and expansion of the company, they are looking to bring in an Operations Manager to join their senior management team. The main requirements will include the following:

  • Ensure Health and Safety policy is actively pursued throughout your area of operation.
  • To ensure customers receive the very highest level of service as appropriate to their specific needs, e.g. Trade or Retail or account, including developing appropriate good working relationships to ensure customers become repeat customers.
  • To manage and control the company’s stock to the highest standard and in particular ensure we maintain adequate stock levels, especially of day to day items.
  • To manage the Company’s day to day activities including staffing arrangements.
  • Ensuring that communication between departments is ongoing and utilised to maintain an environment of continual development.
  • To identify any skills gaps in the company and liaise with the HR department to implement appropriate training and recruitment.
  • To continually seek ways of reducing costs and driving efficiencies throughout the Company.
  • To undertake such further duties as your skills, qualifications and experience allow.
  • To deal with your depot’s day to day staff issues and report these back to the HR Manager and Director’s as appropriate.
  • Other tasks as deemed appropriate to ensure the smooth running of the business.

This is a senior management position and will require someone who has suitable experience of making key decisions, taking a proactive approach, strong management skills, and ideally a proven track record within a similar role within the builders merchant sector. Strong Operations Managers from other merchant backgrounds will also be considered for this position.
