National Buying Group member AWBS has been awarded founder members status of the Earned Recognition Scheme.

The scheme is a government programme operated by the Driver Vehicle Standard Agency. It works to recognise companies with a proven track record in compliance and adherence to transport, driver and vehicle standards. Founder Members is awarded to sixty companies that have demonstrated their commitment to the highest standards in their transport operations. AWBS, which sells a range of building and landscaping supplies, was the only builders’ merchant to be honoured.

The Earned Recognition Scheme allows lorries, buses, and coaches to prove they meet driver and vehicle standards. By regularly sharing performance information with DVSA, member companies demonstrate a proven culture of compliance and in return, benefit from a reduced burden of enforcement. The scheme aims to provide a business advantage to the companies that enforce the very highest transport standards.

Wyatt Tait from AWBS said: “Our transport fleet, drivers and delivery service are a key part of our customer service offering so we take compliance, safety and environmental issues very seriously.

“We are delighted to be recognised as founder members of this scheme, demonstrating that AWBS is amongst the cream of HGV vehicle operators.”
