A charity dinner with former England cricket player Jonathan Trott has raised £11,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The night was hosted by Selco Builders Warehouse, which is a lead sponsor for the Birmingham Bears cricket team. It was held at Edgbaston stadium following the team’s match against the Leicestershire Foxes.

Trott, who currently bats for the Bears, was interviewed by BBC broadcaster Pat Murphy, and invited guests to take part in a target throwing challenge.

The Bears donated £5,000, bringing the grand total for the night up to £11,000. In the six years since it partnered with Macmillan, Selco has raised more than £550,000.

Gini Smith, Corporate Partnership Manager at Macmillan, said: “Our partnership with Selco is a fantastic example of a long term relationship that can have a real impact on the lives of people affected by cancer.

“The money raised at Edgbaston will go a long way to help everyone with cancer live life as fully as they can and we’d like to thank Selco for its continued support.”
