Football fans can support their local team in style thanks to a £5,000 donation from D.W Nye.

The builders’ merchant donated materials to help build an outside bar for fans at Dorking Wanderers FC, as part of an £8 million project to renovate the club’s ground.

The Meadowbank Stadium is in Surrey – where the builders’ merchant is also based.

The materials included fencing and outdoor tables as well as groundwork materials and supplies to build The Fanzone - an outside bar for punters.

The project to refurbish the stadium was finished earlier this month, and Dorking Wanderers celebrated its grand reopening with a celebrity football match and summer party.

Jeremy Pain, Vice Chairman at Dorking Wanderers, said: “We are incredibly grateful for the generosity of companies, such as D.W. Nye, which have supported us with this huge project.

“Without their help it would be incredibly difficult for us to raise the funds necessary to complete our renovations.

“The Fanzone looks great and is going to be an integral experience for all home and away fans.”

Rex Nye, Managing Director at D.W. Nye, said: “The ground is looking outstanding and we hope that the facilities are enjoyed for many years to come.”
