The Duke of York recently visited Norbord’s Inverness factory to celebrate one year of production on its new manufacturing line.

The factory opened earlier this year as part of a £95 million expansion plan, and it produced the first board of oriented strand board, SterlingOSB Zero.

Norbord's General Manager Jerry Jones, Production Manager Mark Reilly, and Technical Manager Steve McTaggart talked through the production process and the expansion with HRH, who also has the title of The Earl of Inverness.

The Duke also took time to speak to apprentices about their on-the-job training as part of Norbord's apprenticeship programme.

To commemorate the Duke's visit and mark the Mill’s one-year anniversary, he unveiled a plaque made of OSB.

Jerry Jones, General Manager at Norbord's Morayhill plant, said: "We would like to thank His Royal Highness, The Duke of York, for taking time to visit us at Norbord and for taking an interest in our work and investment.”

The Duke of York said: "It's a privilege to be able to see how manufacturing is growing and becoming more important in this part of the world, so thank you very much indeed for this opportunity, and it gives me great pleasure to unveil this plaque."
