Velux announces £7 million expansion

Published:  10 October, 2018

Velux will expand its headquarters in Scotland next year, in a project worth £7 million.

The roof window manufacturer’s head office in Glenrothes, Fife, will see a new customer service centre, training facilities, office space, meeting suite and staff restaurant added.

The building has been designed by Sinclair Watts Architects and will be built by Glasgow-based contractor ISG. It is expected to be completed by Autumn 2019.

Mich Schou, Managing Director of Velux UK, said that employees would have an “improved working environment” that allows the company to accommodate new joiners better.

He said: “The new building has also allowed us to decrease our estate’s footprint by selling off a number of vacant buildings to growing local businesses, in turn boosting the local economy.

“VELUX is committed to having a strong presence in Glenrothes, Fife, so it is great to see work start on the new building at a time when the company is going from strength to strength.”

Councillor Altany Craik, Convener of the Economy, Tourism and Strategic Planning Committee at Fife Council, added: “It is fantastic to see a local business expanding and growing like this.

“This new building looks very impressive and showcases many of the company’s products.”
