SCOTLAND: Four life-sized solid marble statues were stolen from a yard in Dennyloanhead during the weekend and police are appealing for information.

The theft occurred sometime between 5pm on Friday February 5 and 7am on Monday February 8.

A Central Scotland Police spokeswoman said: “The statues of lions, each on a plinth, were taken from Direct Slating Supplies in Glasgoq Road. Three of the lions were standing while the fourth had a ball under its paw.”

Each of the lions was about 6 ft tall and weighed about a tonne. They were each worth a four figure sum.

Police believe a lorry and possibly a forklift would have been used to remove the items and appeal for anyone who saw anything suspicious to contact them.
