SOLIHULL: Lafarge Cement has scooped Buildbase Scotland’s 2009 Supplier of the Year award following a vote by managers at 15 branches across the country.

Every year, each Buildbase branch nominates their best supplier and an award is given to the company which comes out on top in each region. The prestigious award is given to a supplier that demonstrates an outstanding level of customer service across the board, from supply and logistics to sales promotions, and Lafarge Cement was the clear winner in Scotland this year.

Lafarge Cement recently held a joint national promotion with Buildbase – giving customers the chance to win a new van by purchasing Lafarge's plastic packed cements including Mastercrete which is manufactured at Lafarge's Dunbar Works. The competition was well-received by Buildbase Scotland’s customers and gave sales a welcome boost in what was a tough year for the construction industry.

Graeme Halkerston, area sales manager for Lafarge Cement, commented: “We were delighted to win this award which reflects our business objective to provide our customers with a high level of customer service and effective solutions that help them drive sales. It is rewarding to know that we are getting such positive feedback from one of Lafarge’s most valued customers.”

Colin Peacock, regional director for Buildbase Scotland, added: “With tightened purse strings 2009 was a challenging year and at Buildbase we focused on offering our customers value-added products and marketing initiatives to drive sales.

"Lafarge Cement’s Mastercrete in Plastic and our recent sales promotion was paramount to this, but all-round sales and logistical support are also important. The overall customer service provided by our suppliers is key to the success of our business and Lafarge Cement consistently delivers to an outstanding level.”
