James Burrell Builders Merchants has secured FSC & PEFC Chain of Custody Certification for its newest branch in Rotherham. This means that all 10 of the company's branches have now achieved the accreditation.

Customers can now buy certified timber materials from any James Burrell branch and know that it has been sustainably sourced in accordance to two global forest management certification schemes - the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) and the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). This highlights the company’s commitment to sourcing products have not been harvested unethically or illegally.

Andy Lees, the company's Timber Manager, said, ‘At James Burrell we are continuously striving towards ensuring that all business operations are as environmentally friendly as possible. It is important to us that our customers can have peace of mind when purchasing timber products from us, to know that our materials are promoting the sustainable management of forests and that the final product can be traced back to a sustainable source’.

James Burrell Builders Merchants also recently achieved a bronze accreditation in the Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS), which aims to raise the level of quality, safety and environmental protection within fleet operations. While some of the company's vehicles still operate under the Euro 5 rating, it is anticipated that the whole fleet will meet Euro 6 standard by the end of this year.
