LITTLEHAMPTON: United Merchants, merchant co-operative and leading clearing house for the industry, has appointed Tony Hogg of GB Willbond and Lorcan Anglin of Pagets'  Builders Merchants.

Ron Walker of Heating Plumbing Supplies will be standing down from the Unimer board at the end of April, as he wishes to cut back on his internal and external work commitments. To replace Mr Walker, Unimer decided to appoint the two new directors.

Tony Hogg is chairman and managing director of GB Willbond. Established in 1896, Willbond now operates a total of eight plumbers' merchants and four bathroom centres in Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Lincolnshire. The company employs 90 staff. It is also a long-standing member of the CBA Buying Group.

Lorcan Anglin is managing director of Pagets Builders' Merchants. It is a long-established, family-owned heavyside merchant, with two branches in Sheffield. It recently won an award for its newly-developed Green Energy Centre.

Howard Grant, managing director of United Merchants, said: ‘We are delighted that Tony and Lorcan will join us. With their vast experience of the construction products and merchant industry, we are sure they will contribute to the future of Unimer.”

“The strengthening of our board is an essential factor in driving Unimer forward and further cementing our position as the leading clearing house for the trade industry. I am convinced Tony and Lorcan will play a key part in supporting our plans for future growth and I am delighted that we will be benefiting from their in-depth knowledge and experience of the industry.”
