LINCOLNSHIRE: A team from Jackson Building Centres has raised over £14 000 for the Rainbows Hospice after completing the Three Peaks Challenge in record time.

The 10-strong team took on the challenge at the end of August and have now collected their sponsorship pledges from colleagues, family and friends to raise this impressive total. All members of the team ascended and descended the three mountains – Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon – in a time of just 23.5 hours, an accomplishment only achieved by 25% of groups attempting the challenge.

It is predicted that it takes four to five hours to climb the peaks – some of the highest in the UK – but the routes are not a gentle walk and, when three climbs are attempted within 24 hours, the challenge becomes more difficult, draining your energy and depriving you of sleep.

The Jackson team members were Andy Williams, Steve Marris, Paul Bullivant, Lathen Tuplin, David Treasure, Mark Rice, Paul Rice (Lincolnshire Flooring, a supplier to Jacksons) and customers Jon Posey (Aaron Services), David Lummis (Aaron Services), and Fred McDonnell (Plumbmac Services).
