Travis energy saving measures
Published:  29 June, 2009

LONDON: There is a large market for refurbishing 1960s flats to achieve a 60% reduction in carbon emissions, says a new report.

The report by Travis Perkins, social housing repairs and maintenance provider Mears, and the Energy Saving Trust identifies measures that halve bills.

Travis Perkins and Mears appraised the measures for practicality, labour, and materials costs.

There are 5 million flats in the UK, approximately 20% of the total UK housing stock.

If all such dwellings adopted the energy efficiency measures recommended in the report, the savings would be highly significant in driving down the existing UK housing stock's emissions.
