Builders and DIY slump in Sunday Times list
Published: 29 June, 2009
LONDON: Builders, contractors and diy stores showed some of the largest profit falls in the Sunday Times Top Track 1900 ranking of Britain's biggest private companies published yesterday. Focus DIY, ranked 80 in the list, saw its sales slump to £654m for the year ending February 2008. Builders, Robert McAlpine, Miller Group, and Gladedale all reported sales down with the Miller Group reporting a loss of £116m in 2008. Those companies without an international customer base and more dependent on UK business faired worse in the table. |
