HARTLEPOOL: MKM Building Supplies' Burn Road depot is donating a percentage of its sales to Hartlepool United Football Club, West Hartlepool Rugby Club and Hartlepool and District Hospice.
MKM has three cards that residents can use: when customers present their card at the till in store the company will donate 5% of the sale to the specified organisation.
The new scheme has been running for a couple of weeks and the company said it is already proving a success. "There were so many charities and organisations in Hartlepool which we would love to support but we decided on the three for this scheme," Mick Sumpter, director at MKM Building Supplies, said:
"All people have to do is bring their card with them from the organisation they are supporting and we will donate 5% of any sale.
"It doesn't matter what they buy or how much they spend, it will all add up and at the end of the year we will make the donations."
