NORTHAMPTON: Travis Perkins has teamed up with Irwin Tools, manufacturer of the Jack 880 handsaw to launch a limited edition pink handled version to raise money for its two partner charities, Breast Cancer Campaign and Children’s Hospices UK.

To help drive awareness of its charity partnerships, Travis Perkins launched a pink theme in 2010, which began by re-spraying 12 of its delivery trucks bright pink. Branches across the country are taking it in turn to use the trucks in their local area when they are fundraising. Such was the success of the trucks that further pink themed items have been sold including hard hats, carpenters pencils, tape measures, wheel barrows, and now handsaws.

The saw is exclusive to Travis Perkins and is now available to buy in dump bins across more than 600 branches nationwide. For each saw that is sold, 68p will go to the company’s partner charities, Breast Cancer Campaign and Children’s Hospices UK.

Ian Church, managing director, Travis Perkins Midlands, and chairman of the Travis Perkins Charity Committee, commented: “We are delighted that Irwin Tools are helping us fundraise for our partner charities in such a fun way, and we thank them greatly for their generous support. The pink campaign has been a roaring success, and helped us raise nearly £470,000 for our partner charities last year; a total we intend to smash the half-million target this year. The sale of the handsaws, together with the huge variety of fundraising activities and challenges we have already completed and have still yet to do, will help us hit our target.”

Irwin’s senior channel marketing manager Paul Jakeway said: “We’re really pleased to be teaming up with Travis Perkins to offer this exclusive take on the Jack 880 Handsaw to raise money for two very worthwhile causes. We’re hoping sales of this pink handsaw will raise awareness and funds for both charities."
