UK: Jayne Law, sales and marketing manager for Dow Building Solutions in the UK and Ireland, has been made a MBE in the 2012 New Year Honours List for services to the insulation industry.

Ms Law joined Dow in 1987 as a field sales representative for Styrofoam after previous roles in the construction, cement and concrete industries. Roles as sales and industry specialist followed, before she moved into a European marketing management position for Dow’s insulation.

She took up her current role in 2004, alongside which she sits on the governing council of the Association for the Conservation of Energy (ACE), a lobbying and campaigning organisation in the field of energy efficiency.

Ms Law recently oversaw the introduction of Styrofoam-A insulation in the UK, which uses CO2 as a blowing agent, giving it a Global Warming Potential (GWP) of less than five. This was followed at the end of 2011 with thermal conductivity improvements across the STYROFOAM product range.

She is also a strong advocate of building techniques such as Passivhaus: Styrofoam product Floormate 300-A was used extensively on England’s first certified residential Passivhaus and was specified on the UK’s first rural affordable housing Passivhaus scheme.
