HORSHAM: On Thursday 19 April, Covers in Horsham became the host of a world record-breaking event as two of the country's strongest men succeeded in their attempt to break the record for the number of bricks lifted in one go.
Current and former UK Strongest Man, Ed Hall and Glenn Ross, were the special guests at Covers' first trade day since the company's move to new purpose-built facilities on Foundry Lane.
Both men achieved their goal of lifting 25 bricks, beating the current world record of 24, held by Geoff Capes since 1981. The duo demonstrated their incredible strength to the tradesmen throughout the morning by taking part in a series of events including a 'crucifix' lift and towing a Covers lorry by harness down a 30m track.
Independent timber and builder's merchant Covers, which officially opened the new one-acre site 300 yards from their old premises last month, invited hundreds of local tradespeople to the special trade event, which also saw a punch bag challenge take place between customers as well as a free hog roast and a range of discounted trade stalls.
