WHETSTONE: Family-run builders' merchants Lawsons Timber is taking part in Macmillan Cancer Support flagship fundraising event, the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning and helping the charity to raise over £10.7m - by drinking coffee and eating cake.

Lawsons will be starting its week-long coffee morning on Monday 8 October until Friday 12 October and they are hoping that all of their customers and staff across all 15 branches will get involved.

Managing director Joe Inzani said: “Last year we chose Macmillan as our partner in our charity day efforts to celebrate our company’s 90th birthday. We found that our suppliers, customers and staff were very generous and feel this is because Macmillan do such good work in supporting so many people through very difficult circumstances. We hope that we can once again rise to the challenge and make a meaningful contribution for Macmillan, and we wish them every success with the numerous other coffee mornings they are getting involved with around the country at this time.”

The money raised from the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning is used to fund services such as Information and Support Centres in hospitals, Clinical Nurse Specialists and to give financial support in the form of Macmillan grants to help people to live their life if they have cancer and benefits help.

The official World’s Biggest Coffee Morning day is on September 28, but like Lawsons you can hold it whenever you like.
