In excess of £350 was raised for Chandlers Building Supplies’ Cystic Fibrosis Appeal when the builders’ merchant took on West Chiltington Cricket Club in a charity match on 2 July.
As the evening light faded, the Chandlers invitational XI just fell short of the West Chiltington score, in what everyone agreed was a very entertaining T20 contest.
The money will go towards The Chandlers £50k Challenge, which aims to raise £50,000 for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust in honour of Chandlers’ employee Rob Sadler, a Cystic Fibrosis sufferer himself. Mr Sadler will be having a double celebration during 2013, marking not only 30 years of Chandlers’ employment, but more significantly his 50th birthday; those with Cystic Fibrosis are not expected to live beyond their 30s.
Richard Skinner, commercial director at Chandlers and a member of the Chandlers team, said: “Thanks have to go to West Chiltington for hosting us and donating the proceeds from the barbeque to our campaign, and to everyone who came along to support the event and help us to raise money for the Chandler £50k Challenge.”
